SMART RENTAL HOUSE
At OCTAMAS, we do more than rent camera equipment. We develop solutions for demanding film and media productions.
Our team comes from hands-on production experience. For this reason, advice is not based on lists, but on real requirements on set. We listen, ask the right questions, and find solutions that match the vision and the budget.
Our inventory includes a wide range of camera and accessory solutions for both large and small productions. We work nationally and internationally and also advise on customs, ATA Carnet, and international transport of film equipment.
OCTAMAS stands for reliable support, short decision paths, and availability around the clock. Our approach is to use technology in a way that simplifies work on set and supports the narrative idea.
HISTORY & DEVELOPMENT
OCTAMAS emerged during a time of transition. As cinema began shifting from analog to digital, Alexander Christ and Franziska Dingetschweiler founded OCTAMAS AG in 2008. As the first rental house in Switzerland to work with digital cinema cameras, OCTAMAS supported productions at a time when new technology also introduced new workflows.
From the very beginning, the focus was not only on cameras, but on workflows and the question of how technology can be used in a meaningful way. This mindset continues to define OCTAMAS today.
As experience grew, so did the desire to not only rent technology, but to further develop it. In 2019, this led to the founding of OCTAMAS Gear AG, where camera cages, power solutions, and accessories are developed directly from on-set needs, improving efficiency, reliability, and safety in daily production work.
When OCTAMAS moved to its current location in Schlieren in 2021, additional space help to support this way of working. More room for prep, testing, and personal support.
In 2022, Sven Uhlmann and Biby Jacob took over operational management. Both come from on-set backgrounds and bring a younger, practice-oriented perspective.
At the end of 2024, Cinelight moved into the same building. Since then, solutions combining camera, lighting, and grip are available on site to make productions more efficient.
