Century Precision Optics Compact Zoom 28-70 T3.0

From the late 70s Century Precision Optics offered many classic still photography zooms rehoused for cinema use. One such zoom is the Century Precision 28-70 T3.0, which houses a Minolta AF 28-70mm F2.8 lens.

This lens provides a unique vintage look similar to Canon FD primes, featuring soft skin tones, soft edges, and “onion-ring” bokeh with an outline characteristic of aspherical design lenses. It weighs only 1.3kg, measures 11.6cm in length and has a close focus of 90cm.

While the original Minolta zoom was designed for 35mm still photography, the modifications made to the lens by Century reduced its coverage, resulting in light vignetting in the corners at the widest focal length on an ALEXA Mini LF in 16:9 mode.
